from the demolition of a neighborhood
The Las Mercedes neighborhood dates back to the 1940s. Conceived as a residential area, it transformed into a transit and commercial zone. Now it’s a luxurious area built with money largely derived from corruption. Where new buildings have been constructed, buildings of cultural, artistic and architectural value were demolished. The Chavista revolution erased traces of the past and imposed a new facade. Its corrupt luxury goes against the socialism that it preaches.
