from the foot of a wall built of rubble

This wall in the Little Chem Chem Wildlife Reserve was made from salvaged material, most likely from a hand-constructed Maasai village. Here, animals pass through on their migratory path from Tarangire National Park to Lake Manyara. What was this material’s path?

Did its earlier role in the village end because of erosion? Was it destroyed on purpose by the English and Arabic colonizers who caused great damage to indigenous villages in Tanzania? Without the detail, as E. M. Forster might say, there is no narrative.
