Scotland
S c o t l a n d
from the changing nature of a farm
This Scottish sandstone was most likely gathered by a farmer in the 1700s, then dressed on one side and shaped by a mason. It served as the cornerstone of the mill that stood on our family farm for over 400 years. Due to increasing financial pressure and the industrialization of agriculture, the mill was demolished in the late 1990s to make way for a modern steel milking parlor. The milking parlor ran as a family dairy for three years until it was no longer financially viable.
