from the destruction of city in war

The Warsaw Uprising of 1944, a defining event in Poland, is the story of heroism against the evil of inhumanity. Despite an effort of the underground resistance, which received no help from Stalinist Soviet Union, the uprising against Nazis failed, leading to the retaliatory destruction of the Polish capital. Some of the rubble now makes up an enormous mound just outside the city. To commemorate the destruction, in 2024 the site was turned into Park Akcji Burza, made in the long Polish tradition of funeral mounds. From the top of the park, one can see the new city, now rebuilt.
