from the demolished wing of a mental health center

The Lev Hasharon Mental Health Center is a facility specializing in trauma-focused care for a diverse adult population. People came to learn how to dismantle their mental walls, to examine the defenses they had built to survive. Souls here longed for protection, stability and resilience. After the attacks by Hamas on October 7, there was a significant increase in demand for mental health support. The public system was overwhelmed, operating beyond its capacity with limited resources. At the same time, hospitals near the border without adequate shelters were forced to evacuate patients to hospitals in central Israel. Lev Hasharon hosted entire wards from hospitals in the north and was assigned the task of providing care for war evacuees and those affected by the conflict in the south. This rubble is from a ward that was demolished to allow for a new building with more capacity. This land, so sacred and precious to so many different people, is soaked with blood, grief and warfare. Rubble embodies an unrelenting struggle. On either side of the border, rubble and ruins are scars of war. They carry within them memories of life, pain, resilience, courage and loss.
