from a crumbling house
In Cap Rouge, everyone knows one another. Many of the homes have compounds with open cooking areas and meeting spaces. They are painted pink or blue, the paint that is often left over from local churches. This rubble comes from a house that has crumbled over time, impacted by damage from climate change. Now abandoned, the house has become a ritualistic site for prayer. People who gather there leave bottles and candles. The rubble symbolizes the connection between the natural world and shelter and it is a reminder of the delicate balance between civilization and nature.
