farms turning into luxury development

Escazú, informally known as “the city of witches,” dates back to the 1600s, when it was home to shamans and healers called curanderas. A lush piece of nature with nutrient-rich soil, it became home to many of Costa Rica’s famous coffee farms. Today the area is being consumed by concrete as it undergoes another transformation into a series of private luxury residences, turning it from rural farmland into the most affluent area in Costa Rica.
