from the nature of time

Duke Engelbert of Arenberg decided to build the Groot Begijnhof, a self-contained neighborhood for laywomen, because the original one, Sint-Elisabeth, built in the 13th century, was in very bad shape. This brick was a part of a wall of a house built in 1874. The dark red of the brick was typical for bricks produced during that time in Flanders. Being 150 years old, some of the houses are deteriorating, and sometimes, if you are looking around, you find pieces of the broken red bricks. If you are still looking when you cross the border from Flanders into the south Netherlands, you witness the color of the bricks change.
